We’re here. We’re safe. We are New Yorkers!
January 31st, 2005What a long strange trip its been!
The quick version? It took us much longer to get out of Madison than we expected. Hence we didn't make our departure before the storm hit. Delay #1
Break in the snow so we got on the road late on Saturday night. Ended up stopping in Illinois for the night (yeah we made it real far huh?) Day two...Elgin Illinois to Clarion Pennsylvania. OY! We finally stopped for dinner and the night there. It would have been midnight by the time we pulled into Moms house and we were already exhausted. Day three...arrived at Moms before noon.
What follows then is two adults, four children and one freaked out cat, SO happy to be anywhere but the minivan or a hotel room! We were so ready to unwind!
Oh wait...there is this nasty tummy virus going around? Yeah you guessed right.
Tuesday night 9PM, Connor not only puked on me, but projectile vomiting was more like it. I was completely shocked as here is a baby that never even spit up...ever!
11PM I'm puking
11:30PM Dylan is puking
11:45 Alex is puking.
and it went like that all night long. We just took turns. By the next day Cassidy was playing along, as was Richard. Was it a 24 hour bug? Of course not....it went on for days unforunately. At least now we're all on the mend with exception of Connor, who thankfully is not puking but still just a bit under the weather (just not back to himself yet)
On with the story...
The movers made it to our new house on Wednesday. By the weekend, we were able to get most everything on the main floor unpacked. And as of today, the kids were introduced to the new house (they stayed at Gramma's over the weekend while Richard, Tracy, Mark and I came up here to get the house ready)
The kids love it, although they all agree..the basement is damn creepy (would you expect anything less from a 150 year old house?) I personally think the entire second floor is creepy but the kids don't seem to mind it. Then again..I'm a total wuss.
As for Cortland, I'm not sure I like it. I have to keep reminding myself to give it some time, but it is rather podunky. I think Ithaca would be a better match for us since a lot of people have compared it to Madison. (yes, write this down...I_miss_Madison!) But hey...I can buy Lager at the market.
I'll try to get some pics of the new place and the kids up soon. As soon as I find an outlet for my digital camera (I completely forgot how few outlets there are in old houses!)

You guys found a house? When I talked with Richard last, he gave the impression that you guys didn’t even have that. Did you buy? Rent? Lease? How big is Courtland?
Pictures!
