Bramasole
February 16th, 2005I seem to be obsessed with "Under The Tuscan Sun" of late. Starz has been playing it several times a day (and I also recorded it on the dvr so I can watch it when I feel like it!) I must get my hands on the book.
I'm not quite sure what makes it so appealing to me. The story is wonderful...thats all I can say.
All I know is that it makes me want to run off to Tuscany and learn to speak Italian.
Around a year ago on this day..

OH man, I had that book once. I found it on a park bench and thought I would take a stab at it. I hated it based on the first chapter. What the movie fails to tell you is that she paid a million or so for the damn place and the whining of a poor rich woman was not what I wanted to read at that point.
But maybe you would like the book….maybe.

I never assumed she was poor.
But any woman that can pull herself up and re-invent herself in a foreign country is ok by me

I loved the book - have not wanted to watch the movie because I had heard it was not true to the book. The book is fantastic - great recipes all the way through it. And it is about normal people (yes, they have money!!) coping with renovations - just like me at the moment (but minus the having a lot of money bit!!)
There is also a second book but I can’t remember what it is called and it is a wonderful read as well. I would love to go to Tuscany one day - it sounds beautiful.
See you!

I never saw the movie, but I hated the book. Gave it away as soon as I finished it. I had exactly the same response as Hadjar. The entire book focused on how this woman was sinking loads of $$$ into her Italian Villa and how tired she was flying back and forth from CA to Italy. Boo Hoo.
