The long weekend is over

February 22nd, 2005

...and we're back to the daily grind.

It seems I never have anything interesting OR happy to write here. Especially since the move. Its no secret I'm bored and miserable in Cortland. The novelty of beautiful snow has long worn off. And this "city" is boring to the extreme. What is a girl to do when she can't run across town and buy some pretty yarn..huh?

So to spare the family a boring Saturday, we jumped in the van and drove down to Mom's house. Little brother had a wrestling match (hence Mom's scheduled trip up here on Saturday was cancelled) We got there just slightly late but in time to see Jay forfeit. No worries though..it was a strategic forfeit and coach claims that forfeit won the match for them. Seems every time we try to catch one of Jay's matches...he ends up in a forfeit. Oh well. We'll try again..next time they have a home match on a weekend that is!

On Sunday before we left PA, we drove over to dads house for a visit. The kids are always excited to see him and play with Lager (his gorgeous but hyper chocolate lab) Dad went into Grandpa mode and had prezzies for the kids upon our arrival. A big wagon of Mega Blocks, a new Leap Pad (the writing and microphone one), a poster art set, and an adorable wooden shape sorter for Connor. The kids love visiting Grandpa :) And they love it when he comes to visit. He says hes coming up in a few weeks. Maybe it will be warmer outside by then.

Cassidy only attended school one week before their winter recess vacation. Wouldnt you know the very first week she brings home some sort of illness? Its not terrible, like a full blown flu or anything, however she did manage to give it to Connor. I woke up to him screaming early Monday morning burning up with fever and a super notty nose. He seems a bit better today (no fever) but the nose...ugh! As you would guess...the rest of the tribe has symptoms. No worries...the medicine cabinet is stocked with ibuprofen, benedryl, and triaminic!

To help battle the ickies, I made a batch of chicken and dumplings for dinner last night (Richard's all time favorite) And was even able to find King Arthur flour at the local market (wow!) Apparently they turned out well because there is none left!

So although I have nothing extremely exciting to report, I'm not entirely miserable today...despite the currently falling snow!

OH..one last thing. I happened to jump up to check on the kids in the next room as I was typing today's entry. To find that Cassidy must be longing for a baby sister..... To which my reply would be "NO"
