Memorial Day weekend wrap up

May 30th, 2005

So its Memorial Day and we really have nothing planned. We may take a ride to Ithaca. Or we may  do some stuff on the grill. Who knows ;)

Yesterday though, we attended a fun picnic at Paula and Cliff's lovely home. It was a blast and the kids were awesome (and they had loads of fun too!) We met lots of great people, had some great wine, and great conversation. Paula sort of themed this party as the "ties to Madison" party since just about everyone coming either lived in Madison, went to school at UW-Madison, or was from Madison. It was really funny. Every once in a while, Paula would ask, "so whats your tie to Madison?". Who would have thought that so many people here in Cortland had ties to Madison (and loved the city as much as us!)

I was also in heaven talking politics! Finally...some like-minded folks! I learned about some local issues that I could really sink my teeth into, and that there is actually a crunchy community around here. Yahoo!

Knitworthy content? I didnt get much knitting time yesterday. Cassidy and I ventured out after brunch for some girl time (shopping) But before we took off, I managed to do about 15 rows on the LTK apron top. I'm nearly done actually. I'll probably finish it off sometime today. I won some Rowan DK cotton on ebay that will become a LTK smocked frock dress. Can't wait for that to get here.

I really need to pick up Tracy's honeymoon cami today too. I don't want to leave it sit too long or I'll lose interest in it.

...more later!

Around a year ago on this day..

where yave ya been sista? I’ve been whining about missing and loving Madison since we pulled into snowy dreary cold politcally silent Cortland!
My dad was very sad to hear that, if indeed Richard did seek a job in Madison, and received a job offer, I would move there in a heartbeat. The rest of Wisconsin? NO FREAKING WAY. Madison proper though…without a second thought. Now I DO love being on the east coast. And I LOVE that I can see my family all the time, so moving back to Madison would not be something we’d think about or look into for several more years. But moving back there is always a possibility…just not something in the near future!

Yeah, I know all that. But I also remember when you actually *lived* in Madison.
