Trying to keep up
June 4th, 2005With the kids, the house, my knitting basket. Eventually I fall behind a bit and the blog is what gets neglected. The good thing is that this time, it was only 2 days and not 20!
We had our pediatrician appointments on Thursday and desite my worrying about Connor's development, our doctor thinks things are just fine and that we should wait and see, with the confidence that he'll just start walking any day now. So I'm trying to relax.
Alex also got 4 (yes FOUR) vaccinations. Probably the most unnerving thing for me (as we all know how much I fret over vaccinations!) We got a little nasty gram from the school district about how many Alex needed to meet requirements and start school in the fall. I'm still terribly bitter that this state is sooooo backwards in this area. I'm pretty big on informed decisions and I feel powerless that these decisions are completely yanked away from us as parents. The alternative is homeschooling. But I'm not confident I could do it well, and the kids love the socialization (Cassidy especially LOVES school and Alex is really looking forward to it) Anyway, I've already blogged about the whole vaccination issue so I won't bore anyone with my never ending rants on this issue and shut up now.
Tracy is here for the weekend, as is baby brother Jay (he decided at the last minute when Mom and Gram came up yesterday for Cassidy's Grandparents Day concert, to stay for the weekend and ride back home with Tracy on Sunday) I had grand plans this morning of getting up early, driving to Ithaca for the farmers market, head back to do the rest of my grocery shopping, eye doctor appt (yay....new glasses finally!) then head home. Tracy is taking Cassidy, Alex and Dylan to see "Madagascar" (and Richard is going along too), so the baby and I would have a quiet day home (read...Baby naps, Carla knits!) And if you havent guessed already, I'm not making it to the Ithaca farmers market. Instead I'm going to stop at the Cortland farmers market since it starts this morning.
Knitworthy content: I'm moving along on the shorts for Connor (Henry's Attic Licorice Twist dyed blue) I did all the butt short row shaping last night while watching "Spanglish" and I'm nearly about to split for the legs. I'll say again how much I love knitting this licorice twist yarn. For those familiar its idential in feel to Henry's Attic Montana (which I also love..uuuuuuber soft but very well spun and not prone to fuzzies, pillies or felting!)
The Honeymoon Cami? I think I hit a fatal glitch with this and I'm seriously thinking about starting all over. With Tracy here for the weekend its not as if I can work on it right now, so I'll pick it up again Sunday night after she leaves.
And I casted on a soaker for Connor. I splurged a bit on yarn dyed by someone else (which I never do!) I got some of Susan's new farm wool dyed in the laguna skies colorway. Its soooo purty but yet totally boyish. This farm wool is very nice, and fluffy soft. It reminds me a lot of Finger Lakes 2ply. I casted on as soon as the mailman delivered the package and I couldnt put it down. I'm nearly to the butt shaping, but I'm going to try to take my time with that one and savor every stitch!
