Something I’ve wanted to do for a long time…

July 25th, 2005

A few years ago when I first started to delve into dyeing fiber (of all types), I had wanted to replicate my favorite Georgia O'Keeffe paintings. I have several of her prints throughout my house, thanks to my dad, who took my amazing Georgia O'Keeffe calendar (after the year ended) and professionally framed them. In combination with my larger prints, you can say I have an O'Keeffe theme in my house! They have graced my walls and made my home look purty for over 10 years now!

So I'm digging in my dye box last week, trying to figure out what to do. I just got a bunch of new colors recently and had yet to play with them. Finally I had the colors to do "Music Blue and Pink II".

Gokyarn So I got to it, worrying every second about getting it right. Admitedly I omitted the orange and yellow hues this go round for fear of puddling with blue or green. Next time I'm going to be a bit more brave as my inclusion of the pink seemed to work out pretty well.

I was so excited at how well it turned out that the second it was dry, it was wound, cast on my circs, and on its way to a diaper soaker. This was my project of the weekend. We spent lots of time in the van as we drove to Syracuse on Saturday, and on Sunday between visiting Mom and Gram, then heading to Ithaca before coming home. So with that said, my weekend project is nearly done! I may be able to finish it up tonight, time permitting (no pics until its done!) Its knitting up beautifully...the color changes knit perfectly and just the way I like it (no striping!)

For those who care what yarn it is, its 100% Merino wool from Blackberry Ridge. Its soooo soft and the spin is perfect and springy!

Around a year ago on this day..
