A boring Sunday

August 22nd, 2005

Usually on Sunday's we take off for Ithaca or Syracuse to find something to do. Since the day was so nice, instead we opted for a drive (I know..with gas prices this high, we're insane, right?) But all summer long we've been wanting to go to Skaneateles, but something else kept coming up.

So we headed out in the early afternoon only to find that town was *packed*. No place to park and the foot traffic was incredible. So we drove through (insert Carla's frown here) Its a beautiful place and we will go back, just not on an August Sunday! I did spot out of the corner of my eye, as we were driving through town, Elegant Needles, one of the yarn stores. I have heard great things about this shop, as well as The Yarn Bin, so I'm anxious to get back there. From there we drove up to Rt 20, a bit west then down 38 towards Ithaca. It really was a beatufiul drive. We'll have to do it again in the fall when the leaves start to change.

We ended up in our usual Sunday hot spot, the Chinese buffet in Ithaca for some dinner. As usual the kids stuffed themselves (who am I kidding, Richard and I did too!) then did some errands before coming home.

I did get in some kniting time while on our little drive, though not much as I was totally enjoying the views. But I picked up my yarn basket again at home last night and finished the short rows on a pair of organic wool shorts with cabled sides. I've had this particular item on the needles for quite some time, but the christening dress has been taking up all my knitting time. I really needed a change since the dress has been starting to make me hate knitting, and I'm sooo close to just going to buy one for Olyvia.

Around a year ago on this day..
