Knitting ADD

September 16th, 2005

Everyone (who knows me well), knows I'm an ADD knitter. I love to start new projects, but when I hit a glitch, I just want to move on to something else. If you looked in my knitting basket and saw the number of socks started you would just laugh.
But despite the few already started, I had to cast on Falling Leaves from The Fall Knitty.
I have to say so far so good! I've only ever done one toe up sock. Singlular. I hated it so much that I never tried it again. This one though, despite the confusing pattern, is quite enjoyable. And I do realize its rated "piquant", but it could have been written to be more easily understood if you ask me..."the intermediate/advanced knitter but new to toe up". The second sock will be easier, as I have all sorts of notes and stitch counts jotted down on my printed pattern.
I started it on my US2 Plymouth Bamboo DPNs, but it didnt feel right. So I pulled it out, and started over with 2.5mm needles instead of the typical 2.75/US2 needles. Much better stitch definition and the pattern is starting to pop.  The Kroy sock yarn though? It felt somewhat soft and pettable on the skein. Knitting it up...uck. I hope it softens in the wash.

Besides knitting, on the front burner for this weekend is to hem a gazillion pairs of pants for Cassidy, and even a pair for Richard. Then I'm going to sit myself down and pattern out a needle roll for all my sock dpns. Its getting difficult to store them safely (without breaking or losing one) Its definitely time for my little sock needle collection to have its own home.
But before that sewing marathon, my sister Jill and her family will be coming for a vist (they are delivering a treadmill !!!!!  and my china cabinet/hutch that has been stored in my mom's basement for some time now)  Afterwards we'll have a nice cook out....probably the last "family cook out" of the year.

For those interested....Richard *ahem* got a call from Cornell :) Keep yer fingers crossed!
