The Shame

From WSJ's Washington Wire (sub req'd):

Two shaky House incumbents, Democrat Melancon and Republican Boustany, hope response to hurricane rallies voters behind them. House Republican campaign chief Reynolds touts chance to market conservative social-policy solutions; Rep. Baker of Baton Rouge is overheard telling lobbyists: "We finally cleaned up public housing in New Orleans. We couldn't do it, but God did."
Baker explains later he didn't intend flippancy but has long wanted to improve low-income housing.

Emphasis sadly added.

Llam I love you and I know this makes you really angry but you are going to make yourself nuts with all of this. It’s sad and disgusting and awful but honey you are burning a lot of energy on all of this. Start writing letters, start a toy drive at the kids school.
Walk away from the computer and tv for a day.

Well, I can’t just sit back. And if people don’t talk about the reality of it all, then its destined to happen again (and again, and again)

I’ve been offline most of the morning and am park bound this afternoon. Heading down to PA this weekend too for Olyvia’s christening.
