I thought Edgar Hollingsworth's story pissed me off...then I read this:
Senate Kills Bid For Katrina Commission

WASHINGTON (AP) — Senate Republicans on Wednesday scuttled an attempt
by Sen. Hillary Clinton to establish an independent, bipartisan panel
patterned after the 9/11 Commission to investigate what went wrong with
federal, state and local governments' response to Hurricane Katrina.

I, like many other democrats (and republicans!) have been calling for an independent investigation. What this tells me is that there is something to hide and/or fear. I personally could care less what party, whomever "goes down" for this mess, belongs to. Democrat, Republican...don't give a shit. Just find out what happened, why it happened and be prepared to fix it.

Come on folks, sing it with me, CONSCIENCE, CONSTITUENCY, PARTY. This is the order in which our senators, representatives, and administration should be placing their priorities.  As the case has always been with republican politicians, party comes first, and we know they generally lack conscience (Tom Delay and Bill Frist grandstanding during the Terri Schiavo ordeal...anyone remember that?)
