Perhaps now shes what they want?

October 18th, 2005

It turns out that Miers lied . I guess that would make her a shoe-in now? I mean, the first thing you must learn to do to be in the Bush circle is lie your arse off, right? Oh and the fact that really, she does favor a constitutional ammendment to ban abortion. Good little evangelical you are Harriet.

Its another case of trickling out what they want us (err, "the base") to hear. Really, if the right didn't stand up and oppose her, bits and pieces wouldnt have leaked out about her....a.little.at.a.time. More sheep herding if you ask me.

So lets list em... Why exactly shouldn't Harriet Miers be confirmed?
This is the Supreme Court of The United States Of America. One would assume, a justice would have at least some experience on the bench. But we've seen in Bush's previous nominations, its not about the experience, but all about the who knows who, and what have you done for me lately.
The lie (see above) First shes for it, then shes against it. Can you say flip flopper? Or how about just plain ol' GOP liar.
My personal big concern. What happens if she is confirmed. And Fitzgerald brings down some federal indictments. What happens when she needs to hear such a case. Will she recuse herself? Or will she bat her eyelashes at W? I mean...have you heard about or read the "love letters" (ok, its what I call them, there is no evidence of an affair between Harriet and W.)
And lets not forget, as Bush's little lapdog for the past few years, shes been privy to some scandalous stuff. Will her paper trail be as trim as Roberts? Honestly this administration has classified a record number of documents. If you ask me...its all to cover their asses. But anyway...just how many cases that may come before her, should she recuse herself from?
<sigh>
Why right wingers havent run screaming into the hills by now, is just, well, astonishing. Though we've started to see some fractures, and key talking heads coming out and wondering just what the hell is going on (Pat Buchanan and Bill Kristol for example) but its shocking at just how potent that kool aid is. Many conservatives I know, are smart cookies. You'd think by now, they'd have figured out that there is nothing "right" about this president, nor anything he does.

Around a year ago on this day..

    lol on no dkos.
    She has said, I think it was last week. That she has no opinion on abortion and that she has “never talked about it”. Apparently she has. I meant to look up a link to that particular “no opinion” statement. If I get around to it tonight, I’ll dig it up.
    I almost always try to find sources outside of dkos, just for you mama! I know you end up wanting to bleach out your eyes after you visit there ;)

    I don’t think she said she had no opinion on abortion; I don’t know anyone who has *no* opinion on abortion. What she did say was that she had not discussed her views on abortion as part of this nomination process. This thing you are referring to is from 1989. Hardly recent history, and certainly not related to the nomination.

    and not just my eyes either!
