Post Fitzmas reflection
October 29th, 2005So the indictments came down, and Scooter took five. Rove remains under investigation and certainly isn't out of legal jeopardy. Personally, I expect to see more indictments. It aint over til Fitzgerald says so, and he certainly pointed out yesterday....he is.not.done.
I spose most of you would have expected me to be all over the Fitzmas celebrations yesterday. But the fact is, I was glued to the tv with my dvr remote in hand.
Anyway..its the day after. And although we have some answers, we have more questions. Fitzmas is turning out to be like the morning after a new LOST episode! But I trust Patrick Fitzgerald, who is known to be the most apolitical and professional federal prosecutor, possibly ever.
Of course while cruising the cable talk shows last night I started picking up the talking points. Both Tucker Carlson and Sean Hannity, almost simultaneously but on different networks were spouting "this was supposed to be a crime that damaged national security! show us HOW it made us less safe!!!" And I know I'm not the only one that noticed this. Then the next theme was "Fitzgerald spent two years on this and found out no crime had been committed [outing of CIA agent]"
WHA? I paid really close attention to Fitzgerald yesterday. And I'm no legal expert, especially when it comes to federal grand juries, but he clearly said this: Outing Valerie Plame Wilson was a crime. But the problem is Scooter in all his high level arrogance, obstructed justice with his false statements and perjury. The investigation continues, but we may never know because someone did some very bad things and wasn't truthful (A theme in this administration) I guess Scooter never heard that Jefferson quote I posted the other day about lies.
So, I'm celebrating Fitzmas,...quietly. Its only the first crack in the dam of republican corruption.

YK, I was shocked too that after all this time, the worst they could come up with was “lying”. But then, that’s all Clinton was ever charged with, too.
It’s another shameful day. Sigh. Buncha jumbled up thoughts here, ranging all over the place, flitting through my mind like minnows in the shallows. Need more coffee!

well, its important to read the indictment. It tells you a lot. It lays out the crime and how it was committed, but ya gotta be able to connect the dots. With the lies and obstruction…its just not possible.
Anyway, when you have time Cass, read the indictment, so much more will make sense.
