I do solemnly swear

that I am officially on a yarn diet!

Sorting

I'm serious! Yesterday, Richard took Cassidy, Alex and Dylan to see "Chicken Little", just as Connor was going down for a nap. That allowed Mama to do whatever she wanted to do. I chose to knit a little bit, then tackle the yarn stash that had found its way into every nook and cranny of this house. Richard had bought me some Sterlite bins last week for this very purpose, but I hadn't gotten around to sorting and such. Well..I did.

I found yarn that I'll never use:

Acrylicpounds of acrylic
woolease
Encore DK (ok ok, I'll use that!)
Jiffy (OMG!)

I found yarns I forgot I had:

VintageMost of this is from a vintage wool buy on ebay (except for those pretty lilac hanks of Harrisville in the box on the right.

HALF of my un-dyed stash:

UndyedYes, only half!
Not pictured either, is the bin full of acid dyes!

GoodNESS. I am on a yarn diet! I will never use all this stuff. I'm not even including pictures of my huge sock yarn stash. Or the 9 skeins of Briggs & Little Heritage for Rogue  (and the 9 skeins of Bartlett slated for Eris) I don't have a picture of the STUFFED FULL bin of my other lovely wools, or the STUFFED full bin of cottons (Cotton Tots, Pakucho Organic, Cara Mia, Stork, OH MY)

My lovelies, this isnt even half of it. I kid you not. The other half of my sewing/craft room is filled with fabric!

It is official. I told Richard, do_not_let_me_buy_yarn. Its a sickness..and I am ill! Unless I find those uber nice yarns at an incredible price (err, Lion and Lamb, Calmer, other fiber crack sort of things)....I'm off the buying of fiber for a while. I may even ebay some of it.

Around a year ago on this day..

I went through my embarrassingly large yarn stash recently too, I feel your pain! It sure did feel good to get rid of the things I knew I’d never knit. I was able to pass a lot of it along to my sister, who was glad to have it. Good Karma!

It actually makes me happy to look at my reduced stash now, instead of filled with guilt!

You should see my roving stash. Lots of BIG bags full of wool to spin. Still tho’ you have me beat! I think it’s a common affliction among us fiber people. Too much yarn , too much wool, too many sheep, too many needles but not enough time.

before going to eBay, try posting on Knitter’s Review Forumn - I sold some of my stash over there, and no fees to pay ;-)
