I spun! I spun! I spun!

December 7th, 2005

I'm putting this in my knitting category, but I didn't actually knit. I did get to show off my clapotis, mini clapotis, socks and current gift knitting. The more important thing, is that Loren let me try out her Kromski Polonaise! And although I didn't spin anything on her Louet, I treadled it and maaaan was it fun! Even though all of my treadle sewing machines use belts vs pitman rods, the "drive" was very similar, and I could see myself speeding away.
I've been so afraid of investing in a wheel, having never driven one, but now that I have I must have one! Its much more relaxing than knitting, in a zen, meditate yourself out of this world sort of way. And Loren says I'm a natural! Woo!
Driving in the snow sorta sucked though. A drive that should have taken me a half hour to 45 minutes took well over an hour. But I only slid once, and had to stop for deer crossing once (with minor sliding) but I made it home safe. The tricky drive was worth meeting Loren, her fabulous family (and the uber adorable sheep, goats, and bunny of Windyridge. Click here to see them!)

Around a year ago on this day..

I put out some feelers for you for a wheel. I will send you the responses when they come in…one came in without a price so I wrote back to him and asked for one.
I never even thought to let you spin something on the Louet, I should have! I think I figured you could spin so you didn’t need to but of course you want to try out other wheels! DUH. You shoulda asked. :-)
