SuperMom (and why I’m not one)

December 5th, 2005

It occured to me this morning, amidst the mass chaos of getting Cassidy and Alex out the door on the bus (while simultaneously attempting to get myself, Dylan, and Connor ready for a 9:15 pediatrician appointment) that I just don't have my shit together. I looked around the house at the clutter, the clean, but not put away laundry (while trying to ignore the over-flowing basket of yet to be washed clothing), the sink full of dishes, the kitchen counter where all mail seems to land. The toys, oh my goodness, the toys.
It was depressing.

The past few days I've been so busy knitting my fingers raw (yes...raw and cracked) that I've totally dropped the ball on the house. This isn't to say that I'm ever totally on top of things, but I like to pretend I have everything in control. Well, I'm here to admit..
My name is Carla, and I am not a Super Mom.

In my defense however, I have knocked the mini clapotis off my gift list. Sock one of the second gifting pair, is nearly done. I am halfway through the first color on a King Of All Things felted crown.
Oh and the tree is up (not decorated yet, but up with lights on)
So while I am not Super Mom, at least I try. At the very least with all of this gift knitting, you could call me Super Sister, Super Aunt, Super Neice.

And before anyone asks, Connor is nearly back to his old self. We stopped the round the clock neb treatments, and are doing them PRN now. He also had his well child check up this morning (so did Dylan) and both are more than healthy.

Around a year ago on this day..

I don’t think that being a super mom is even possible. If you love your kids, your husband and every one of them feels it, knows it without a doubt then you have done your job as a supermom. Clean houses are a rare and wonderful thing but being a mom is everyday & we are blessed to be doing it with the love & help of our men as mates!
