This is what a vax reaction looks like!

My poor boy. The rash got even worse by dinner and tubby time last night. Besides the benedryl that Dr D told us to give him every four hours, he seems pretty ok with the rash part of it.
I am freaked out though, about taking him out in public. When we re entered the waiting room yesterday after seeing the doctor, it was full of parents and kids. You should have seen the nervous looks he got from the parents!
And look at the injection site! It looks slightly less red here. Maybe its the flash. Maybe its the fact that he had just came out of the tub. But its at least 2cm bigger in both directions that it was at the pediatrician's office yesterday.
Close up of his neck. This is one of the worst parts of his body besides his back (the rash part of it anyway) It goes all the way up under his hair over his entire scalp.
And here is his back. I did notice him scratching at the injection site. I'm guessing its from the severe swelling. In any case, this was his third of four overall DTaP shots. I'm a little shocked that he reacted this way suddenly, as was the nurse. But Dr D, said it can happen. I'm hoping that there is some follow up once its reported to the feds. Like, will I be able to find out if his vaccination came from a "hot lot". I'll have to research that.
Dr D said, the good news is that he didn't have the really bad reaction to the DTaP, like breathing difficulty (which he would have had right away after the shot) But we'll have to be really careful when its time for the fourth injection and possibly split it up.

What does this mean? FEDS? HUH!?
You should be able to get the lot number from the shot right? DO the Dr’s keep that info?

Another question.
Why did they give him this shot so soon after being so sick? He was in the hospital last week. My ped wouldnt give O a shot if he had a common cold.

He needs to get the forth?!???!!! Couldn’t 3 shots out of the 4 be enough? Poor child, I can imagine how frightening this incident must have been for you. Vaccinations scare the heck out of me! Hope he will feel fine in no time.

Oh Carla! Those hives look SO uncomfortable. Poor baby. Hope Connor is doing better by now - and that you get a moment to take some deep breaths. I am thinking of you and all you have going on right now. We have to plan a get together soon.
