We’re Back from PA.
December 11th, 2005I guess I wasn't really clear about the interviews Richard had. The first one was in Syracuse (not the one I was enthused about) What is shocking however, is Richard didn't feel the phone interview went well. The woman he spoke to made it sound pretty bad (long hours, less pay than what he was already getting, not to menion the commute if we were to stay in this school district) So he attempted to get a hold of her to cancel. She ended up talking to him on the phone for a long time, stressing that the pay is just a baseline and he could negotiate more. And that the "team" was really excited about his resume and they don't often make time to meet prospective employees, so she stressed how badly they wanted to meet him.
In the end, he said the interview went really well. But with that he said, he wouldn't be surprised if it went either way (no offer/offer)
The Northeast PA one...oh_my_goodness. I guess my hunch on that one was dead wrong. It was a situation where they really should have done phone interviews first. Richard could have not even scheduled the interview, and we wouldnt have wasted the money on the gas it took him to drive out to B.F.E. Northern Poconos in_the_middle_of_a_snowstorm. Turns out they don't offer family benefits, and were just WEIRD. As he said, new agers are self absorbed and not family friendly (this was sort of a new agey business) Honestly the more he told me about it the more I thought of it as a cult. Weirdness.
So..we'll see. I'm seriously bummed about it all. I'm a little freaky when I'm not in control of things. And this not knowing what will happen is spinning me out of control.
The better news is that Connor's rash is all gone. By the time we got to Mom's on Thursday night, it was starting to "dim" a little. And even the injection site swelling is gone now. Of course he has another head cold (I hate winter) but hopefully this won't speed its way into another trip to the hospital.
And lastly our Dylan turned FOUR today. We had his party at Mom's house and it all went well. He raked in the Batman "stuff" (and still has his Batman gloves on right now..they make noises when you move them or hit something) And he hasn't put down his Batmobile. I would share pictures, but I forgot to put the digital camera in the camer bag with the video camera
I'll take some tomorrow when we get some of his loot out to play.
Around a year ago on this day..

Carla, spin and knit! That you *can* control. When Tom didn’t have a job, that was when I really got into spinning and knitting so I was too absorbed to be stressed. I even slept well at night.
The Syracuse position doesn’t sound half bad if he can still negotiate up and you can move a little closer and then you can still make our meetings! (Ok so maybe I am a little selfish here).
I hear ya with the winter thing. Someone is always sick it seems but take heart. As the kids get older they don’t get sick as often as when they were really young. A lot less colds and stomach virises even. Just an occasional appendicits!
Keep us posted! How about some more of those super political satirical posts….
