Blech…crochet - And why I’m not jaywalking

January 6th, 2006

Go take a look at these bootie patterns. I think I'm in love! But BLAST...its crochet! If you haven't caught on to that fact yet..I despise crochet (alas...I knit!)

Jaywalkers have been arrested and fined (in other words, removed from needles, yarn re wound) Petticoat just wasn't going to work, especially on my birch 1s. And what is even more odd, the Petticoat felt rough to me. It must be the season (perpetually dry hands) because folks, Opal never feels that way (at least to me)
Seems I'm seeing lots of jaywalker socks done in Socks That Rock. I have my own reservations about 100% merino socks (and wearing holes in them) but I dig the thought of the softness. So once we move, I may spring the bucks on some of that. I'm sure its worth it (hundreds of knit bloggers can't be wrong, right?) Besides...I need socks made from  yarn named after a Grateful Dead song  (ok, maybe they didn't name it after the song, but it is a Grateful Dead song.)

I'm not terribly wordy these days. Moving day is near. I'm not happy about it. Gosh darnit, I just don't have anything happy to say. In fact, there will be some down time coming up during the move.

Around a year ago on this day..

Dude! Of course they named it after the song! GREAT colorway.

Oh and I wear my socks all the time and haven’t seen any wear. STR is very heavy - heavier than Koigu or CTH and it’s makes a very dense fabric - especially with the jaywalker pattern.

    Bootie patterns are cute.

Try to get your computer up and running as soon as you move…don’t want to lose touch with ya!! I will schedule the spinmeet for the end of the month to give you time to get settled in, in case you can make the meeting. With me it was always the stereo got set up first, if there were computers back then that would have been next and then, and only then the rest of the stuff. “course I had no kids or a husband back then.

Check here for a link that shows you how to modify a knit sock pattern to make them “elvish” looking.
