why oh why

January 4th, 2006

Why oh why, on certain days does everything just go wrong?
I had planned on blogging today about the progress on Dad's Irish Hiking Scarf. But my camera is pitching fits. I turn it on, it works for about 2 seconds, then shuts off and says the battery is dead (it is not) Now my camera always acts up after its been in the hands of children. And in the past few days Dylan has been obsessed with taking pictures. Nuff said.
A new digital camera has been on my wishlist for a year now, but I think I'm going to move it up a few slots above spinning wheel. Ugh!

Connor seems to have easily gotten over the bug, but Alex was complaining of a hurting tummy this morning. Alas, we've kept him home from school. Since the bus pulled away with Cassidy however, he has acted fine. So fine, that after he was fighting with Dylan over a book, I threatened to cart his butt into school. Of course everything going wrong today is exaggerated because I feel icky myself. And so does Richard. Just that general icky tummy feeling...complete with extreme exhaustion.

I'll keep trying my camera today, but no promises. And since our budget is about to get uber tight, a new camera is not on the horizon for a very long time.

Around a year ago on this day..

Carla have you tried removing the memory card and then replacing it. That can fix a lot of oddities like that. If that doesn’t work. Take the card out, turn the camera on and off without replacing the card and then put the card back in. Also see if it works with just the internal memory. Could be a damaged card maybe?
    Feel better soon!

Loren I’ve tried everything you suggested. I think the camera has just been dropped too many times by little children.

As for cabling, a basic cable like that is REALLY easy. I don’t even use a needle to cable (see: http://bagateller.tripod.com/tips/cable.html )
For intricate cables, like in Rogue I NEED to use a needle sometimes, but just the basic cross over, no needle required. This scarf is the most basic of cable stitch. Give it a whirl!

Oh no, sorry to hear about the ickies & the broken camera! We kept the old (first) digital camera around just for kiddos. The 2nd one we got, I loved but one of the kids dropped and that was it. This one they aren’t allowed to TOUCH no matter what…don’t care how much they fuss. They both love to take pictures but have to deal with the other one. Hope you all feel better soon!

BTW everbody’s pal on my blog had some comments for you in response to yours. I think I am going to start rejecting his comments but I figured you would give it right back to him.
