Another weekend roundup

April 10th, 2006

Flowerbasketstart_1Lets get the fiber out of the way first.
The Flower Basket Shawl is underway. I went with the LTK hand dyed Licorice Twist and although I love the mixing of color (really, I love love love this colorway) I'm not certain its right for this project. I will finish it though, as the magic of lace comes in the blocking. I'm on the third repeat, of 7 that the pattern calls for (however I know I'll repeat a few more times since I want a larger shawl). This is the only knitting I got done this weekend. Shocking isn't it?
PumpMy Dad drove up on Sunday to spend the day with us, and enjoy the first grilled meal of the season (bacon wrapped filet mignon, baked potatoes, steamed broccoli...mmmm) And he was totaly taken with the pump. He finally said, "go get a bucket of water and lets see if we can prime that thing!" And we did. And very little water came out. And the water was muddy. So, it sorta works! We have come to the conclusion. The well is dry, or more likely, the pipes long ago rusted and have started to cave.
ConnorLastly, Mr. Cuteness himself, filthy from romping in dead leaves, lounging on my new papasan chair on the patio (right after it was delivered) A real steal on eBay with free delivery. Iron stand, bamboo and wicker construction, green cusion, and matching ottoman. You honestly wouldn't believe how cheap it was if I told you....especially delivered! Originally I purchased this for our sun room. The sunroom however is still the unpacking docking station and will need its walls ripped down once its emptied. For now the papasan has replaced my glider in the living room, where its much easier (and comfortable) to knit lace on long straight needles. It will go to the sunroom....eventually.

That’s one thing I’m looking forward to in this move…buying new furniture. The lace looks great, can’t wait to see the magic of blocking.

I LOVE that Licorice Twist yarn you’re using. A colorway like that will look good no matter what. Yeah, for lace knitting!!
