Second Verse, Same As The First
April 3rd, 2006
...except this time, there actually was a trip to the farm! Complete with the tweaked carrot oatmeal muffins (more pineapple, no raisins, added walnuts and sweetened the cream cheese filling...YUM!)
And the weather was perfect. Not a single wisp of cloud in the sky.
I could show you all the fun we had at Windyridge Farm today with Loren and her family, if I had actually taken any pictures at all, other than this one. We were much too busy actually having fun...who has time to stop for pictures?
Upon arrival, it was time to feed Amelia, (adorable little lamb in the picture), whose own mama isn't keen on nursing her. All plans were for Cassidy to feed Amelia, however the shy bug bit, and Cassidy backed out. And both Alex and Dylan I think were just a teensy bit overwhelmed, and not expecting the sheep to be as big as they are (I mean, really, they only ever see sheep on TV or from a distance) So I got to feed her (and boy does she eat fast!) And I got to pick her up and cuddle her too. Lets just say...I was wishing I could bring her home and litter train her!
We then had snacks, (muffins and Loren's awesome s'more brownies) while the kids ran everywhere. Up the hill, down the hill, to the pond and back... even Connor. The boys got to fish in the pond, while Cassidy went for a boat ride with Loren's son Dan. Whew, so much fun jam-packed into one Sunday afternoon.
Thank you so much Loren, Tom, Dan and Mike. The kids talked about it all the way home. In fact Alex was still talking about it as he was drifting off to sleep tonight, asking "Mama, when do we get to go to that farm again? Is it soon? Please?"
Knitworthy...
I had almost convinced myself to participate in Flash Your Stash 2006, however I flashed some of my stash last fall (and it hasn't really changed much since) But I was however, anticipating a good time blog surfing this "event". I was not at all disappointed.. Cara's leaves me without words. Actually, I do have words: "holy shit that's a lot of yarn!" . But what left me drooling, is that bottom picture. Look at all that Socks That Rock yarn! Oh.My.Gawwwd.
And then there is Wendy at Knit and Tonic who gives the term "yarn porn", a whole new meaning. You GO girl!
Was a fabulous weekend y'all. I even got a hip new haircut (I insist.. a shortish, curly bob style is uber hip for 21st century, thirty-something moms)
Around a year ago on this day..

Of course I realized after you left that we took no pictures. You shoulda hollered at me to take a photo of you and the lamb! I even had the camera out and ready but up in the house it does no good. Glad you had fun, come back anytime!

A trip to the farm…. I am so jealous. And you held and cuddled a lamb, too! I think a field trip is in order!
