Quick update.. I’m home

September 24th, 2006

And its good news!

What are the chances that the hospital where Kris lands, and the neurologist that takes her case, is the very hospital and doctor that discovered a rare disorder in the last 12 months, and is so far is the leading "expert" on it? This particular disorder hasn't even been published yet! It is so rare, that Krissy is only the 15th diagnosed case so far!
As soon as the diagnosis was confirmed early Friday afternoon, the "team" at the hospital jumped into action, scheduling three important procedures immediately, to start the process of recovery. She is still very much in critical condition however. I had really hoped that she would start to "come out of it" before I left, but they are keeping her heavily sedated in the NICU (neurosurgery intensive care unit) to "break" the seizures. The neurologist however, expects a full recovery, so thats what we have to hope for.

This week will be very telling, as they start to reduce her sedation. Keep thinking good thoughts!
Thank you to everyone, for thoughts, prayers, emails, and comments. I'll try to respond via email this week. Right now I'm exhausted, and nursing one helluva head and chest cold.

Its wonderful to finally be crying out of happiness!

Wow, Carla that’s great news. I hope that Krissy will respond to these treatments soon. I’m glad that the right doctor was found.

That’s great news! It seems you could use a little more great news now and then - at least in the last few months! My thoughts are still with you and yours!

Oh Carla! That IS great news. Still thinking of Kris and R. and O. and YOU - and glad to hear that the cause is identified and the prognosis is good. Still some room for good thoughts and prayers between now and then - and you have both coming from me.
