Sunday with family
September 3rd, 2006
I was finally able to deliver the lovely blanket that Kerstin made for Jill. Everyone oohed and ahhed, Kerstin. And everyone agreed with me.. the kindness and love displayed in this gift is, as I said in my original post about this, immeasurable.
It was hard to watch my baby sister go through the motions of burying her young husband. Its hard to watch her console Ethan when he asks for his dad. Its hard to look at Olyvia and know she won't ever remember him. And its hard to watch her climb up yet another mountain as she recovers from her accident, long before shes recovered from the first trauma.
But look at her smile today!
Other than delivering Jill's blanket, we celebrated Cassidy's birthday with more family at the campground in NE Pennsylvania where my mom, grandmother, aunt and uncle all spend summer weekends.
We enjoyed a very traditional cook out menu, and more cake. Thankfully the weather, although cloudy and chilly, remained dry!

I cannot believe what Jill has had to endure this summer. But she manages to smile! Truly amazing. Your sister is a very strong woman.
It was fun to see the blanket pop up in bloglines this morning. Thanks, Carla.

That’s ear-to-ear — just like Jill’s! Best wishes for her continued, speedy recovery.

Your sister and the blanket are both beautiful. The colors are so vibrant! Glad you had a good weekend.

What a lovely blanket!! I can’t begin to imagine what Jill’s been through.
I’ve been MIA for like a month but I am back! And, I read all 33 backloged entries. Holy crap, woman.
