Congrats and cartwheels
January 25th, 2007So I let the cat out of the bag a little while back that Richard had been "let go" from his position. He took it with grace, knowing that the person who made the decision (Hi Little Man! I know your watching!) is a total moron and that, well, karma is, as karma does. I guess what says it all, is that when Richard told a former employer what had happened, their exact quote was "are they morons?"
The headhunters continue to call here each day, and lots of great offers have come. One even wanted him so badly they tried to bargain all day long, doubling the initial hour rate offered. It makes my heart swell a little knowing that my husband is that good at what he does. And it makes me laugh a lot, that some moron (Hi again Little Man!) didn't respect what they had, and blew it. So while things are tough right now, I know that this is all temporary. And while Richard was treated very badly by said moron, there are ethical and professional organizations out there that will fight to have him, and treat him well. Lastly while folks from his former place of employment have actually called him and let him know how sad and/or angry they are at what happened, I can smile a little knowing that those same calls won't be made when The Little Man leaves the building for good. Seriously, if he listens close enough, he'll hear the entire building cheer.
So anyway, the point of this post.. In less time than it took me to knit the fair isle tote bag (and I kicked the clock's arse on it!), Richard completed a contract, start to finish. We practically had a race with each other. But while my project came out less than expected, his came out fabulous! So fabulous that the client is practically doing cartwheels.
And not only did the project finish great, its a great organization and deserves the site visits. To those of you that are local to me, you may have heard of them.. if you haven't, they do great work for the community, give the site a read (and while your there, bask in my husband's rockin' skillz) Visit them here, Interfaith Works CNY
Edited to add: Thanks everyone! I should have mentioned in this post yesterday that there is yet another contract upcoming (very likely a third too). Woot!
