Snakes on a plane?
January 13th, 2007Or squirrels in the attic?
Yes, we have squirrels in the attic! I noticed a few weeks ago, some yellow fiberglass insulation in the driveway. How odd. Then some more a few days later.. and more.. and more..
Then a few nights ago, we heard scurrying in the ceiling, below the crawlspace areas of the upstairs. Not mouse scurrying, SQUIRREL scurrying.
Sure enough, I've now found three chewed through entry areas in the eaves.
It wasn't bad enough that I had to travel around central New York to locate a galvanized steel garbage can because they kept eating through our Rubbermaid cans. Now they've eaten their way into our home!
I need to find the state regs on squirrels because some states say you can't kill them. Bwahahaha! I'm not even considering live traps at this point. I want the dirty little invasive critters, gone, gone, GONE for good!

There’s a squirrel season in NY…. look it up on the DEC website. It may still be open.

Squirrel stew anyone? Can you spin the fur from their tails? Make squirrel tail hats?

My own solution is to turn loose a cranky old cat in the attic and let ‘er have at it. Maybe two, depending on the squirrel.
At first I thought the post was going to be about the recent spate of scorpions on planes

Maybe you could just domesticate them and knit them little sweaters and then they would be cute and charming?

There is a hilarious write-up on ESPN from last year. One of the sports analysts was given a birdhouse for Father’s Day, and it discusses his tolls and toils on his resulting squirrel battle in the backyard. I will do my best to find it and send to you. Let’s just say it had me falling out of your chair laughing.
