Its all about the spinning

March 31st, 2007

While I am working on Gram's shawl here and there, its been all about the spinning lately (I'm sure you noticed!)

I started the Georgia O'Keefe roving and I'm loving it. I stop at my wheel and spin a little bit more every spare minute I can find. I thought I'd just start it at spinning guild this weekend, but I just couldn't wait. Its likely I'll finish it before tomorrow's meeting, so I'll have to dig through my fiber stash for something else to spin. And the columbia yarn currently sits in a pot cooling. I was going to use multiple colors and hand paint it, but I have a ton of things to do today and didn't need yet another mess to clean up. I went with Jacquard Crimson - and I'll likely knit this into a soft, warm hat for next winter.

Edited to add:

While I had my dye pots out...

I have tons of un-dyed corriedale in my stash. So I set about dividing, weighing and mixing up dye. I've been wanting to try spinning two colors (alternating them) then navajo plying (stripes!) So I picked two themes to go with.
Pumpkin Orange and Golden Ochre. And one of my all time favorite color combinations, Purple and Emerald Green. In one afternoon, I've replenished my colorful spinning stash!

Around a year ago on this day..
