Monday Morning Weekend Report
May 21st, 2007I'd love to report this morning that Wing Of The Moth is finished. Really I would. But I.Ran.Out.Of.Yarn. on row 6 of 17 in the final chart. So I thought I'd just end there and cast off. But there isn't even enough yarn to cast off on that row. I would either have to tink back a full row to cast off. Or. Buy another skein. Since I originally purchased this Cotton Fine at Patternworks several years ago, its highly unlikely that I'll find the same dyelot. To complicate matters, although they carry the same color NUMBER (690), the color name has changed from Alpine Lilac to Lilac.. so theres no telling if its even the same color. I plan to call a local shop that carries Cotton Fine to see if she has the color in stock so I can save the shipping cost. But if she doesn't have it.. I'll probably do the tinking back and just cast off after the finish of Chart B. Although I live by the rule of fiber insurance and always buy an extra skein for a project, this project was born of my stash. I thought I'd be able to eek the shawl out with the four skeins I had. Bummer.
So anyway, we had a good weekend. Despite the chilly weather, we spent some time outside in the yard, cooked on the grill, made a trip to Carousel Mall so the kids could ride the carousel, had steamed clams for dinner on Saturday, and I finally set up my Bernina, so I have an urge to sew something. I think once I get the kid's closets and drawers squared away with the exchange of seasonal clothing, I'll dig in the fabric stash and play a little bit.
Around a year ago on this day..

Sorry about the yarn thing - sounds like a bummer - from your non-knitting friend.
