More Roza’s Socks & Must See TV

May 31st, 2007

I seemed to have slowed down a bit. I didn't get as much done last night as I'd hoped - I was really shooting for getting to the start of the heel flap..

And I've also come to the conclusion that I need to just buy some sock blockers. These are some socks screaming to be blocked! I mentioned last summer that I needed to find some wire hangers to make more sock blockers - Well.. you must realize how hard it is these days to come across wire hangers.
I found these sock blockers at The Loopy Ewe and they're much nicer looking than the teal Fiber Trends ones. I also had a blast looking through the Loopy Ewe collection of sock yarn.. yuummmm!

Also I need to mention, despite my desire to avoid all things WCNY related, while scanning through the digital tv guide, I noticed "Crafts In America" and tuned in. Oh.My.. what a fabulous series. See the site here: Crafts In America, and tune if you can.

I was particularly blown away by Sarah Jaeger. I've wanted a pottery wheel for so long now.. its my long term goal to eventually have one. Electric wheel, kick wheel.. I don't care.. I just love throwing pottery on a wheel, and its been eons since I've had an opportunity. Towards the end of Sarah's segment, I saw a teapot that was so beautiful I gasped. Amazing work.. amazing.

And then theres Ken Loeber and his wife Dona Look. Ken is an inspiration.. plain and simple. He came back to jewelry making after suffering a severe stroke and his work is ever more stunning. Dona's baskets are an amazing work of art as well.. the details.. oh my. Not to mention.. they're also homies! On Wisconsin! I had to just giggle during their segment because their son was wearing a "Russ Feingold For President" t-shirt. Right on!

I haven't even finished watching all of it. I recorded much of it on the dvr after I slugged off to bed.. Do yourself a favor and check the site for your local listings. You may even be able to watch it online. Be prepared for me to gush some more about the series this week, as I watch the rest of it. I'm sure I'll be equally blown away by what I haven't seen yet!

Around a year ago on this day..

It must have been a slow knitting night as I didn’t get as far as I wanted on my sock either. Craft in America, I’ll have to add that to my TiVo list and check it out. Those Loopy Ewe sock blockers look fab, may have to snag a pair myself after I see what knitting doodah comes with my Monkey socks.

I saw two of the three episodes last night, including the one featuring the “homies.” ; ) They live in Algoma — where DH and I have been wanting to take a day-trip! My g’parents used to live there and that was the destination of my first-ever road trip (from Milwaukee) for Thanksgiving. Anyway. Isn’t that a great series? I was trying to look through pattern mags and had to put them down.

Love the piggy purses in your last post.

You want a kick wheel- I used to quite a bit of pottery and the kick wheel was much more controllable for me.
