Pulling my hair out
July 16th, 2007And still no pictures of progress on Sockapalooza4 socks. Sorry. I've been spending every free moment possible (and today there hasn't been many of them) trying to figure out how to attack my wonky technique problem. I really wish I could share the issue here (with pictures) and publicly seek help, but I can't. Maybe this is partly whats driving me mad.
I've consulted every knitting text I possess. I've googled endlessly. I've sought the help of a "guru" via email, though I haven't heard back yet. And I'm just *sigh* ready to poke my eyeballs out with my knitting needles. I'm probably doing the technique properly, but it requires some practice and I'm not used to trying a technique in knitting that doesn't just work properly right away. I love a good challenge, but this is insane and I'm feeling a bit jerked around by the yarn gods.
If nothing else, it sure is humbling!
But anyway.. other than my mini rant above, I don't have much else. Like I said I've been spending so much time trying to troubleshoot this and everything else has fallen by the wayside. By the time the kids get in bed tonight I'll have several shows on the DVR that need watching, and I have some podcasts that need listening. And of course theres the knitting. I've done it before.. and I think tonight I'll be doing it again. Its called multi-tasking the Carla way. Watching tv with closed captioning on - check! Headphones and iPod in place - Check! Knitting in lap, chart in sight - Check!
Stay tuned until tomorrow to see if Carla has lost her mind yet or not. All pity filled comments, gladly and gratefully accepted.

Carla, let me know what is happening with your project! It is my favorite topic and I promise to get back to you quickly. (Remove the REMOVE from my email address before sending.)

Sorry you are still having a problem with that knitting. Hope you get some help with it soon. Just had to say that your Carla multi-tasking had me laughing…Corey does stuff like that ALL the time. LOL!

I’m finally catching up on blogs. What’s the problem? Maybe I can assist.

Hi Carla,
If you are coming Sunday, bring your sock with you - perhaps we can help figure it out. I imagine you’ll have it worked out by then though! You can always feel better by starting a new project! (ha ha!)

Wow. I’d never be able to handle keeping track of a TV show and a podcast at the same time. My head would explode.
Sorry the socks are giving you a hard time. This reminds me, though, that one of my New Year’s Resolutions was to learn how to do socks. Do you have any recommendations for a good beginner sock pattern? I’m an intermediate knitter, and I can handle DPNs okay. But terms such as “short row shaping” and “turning the heel” make me squinch up my eyes and go, “Huh?”
