Labor Day Weekend

September 7th, 2007

Yeah, so I'm finally getting around to this post. In my defense, I had like 400 pictures from the weekend to weed through, then the actual time sucking chore of editing in Photoshop. But anyway..

While most were spending the "last weekend of summer", on vacation, camping, boating, swimming (insert your favorite outdoor activity here), we were, as I said, visiting at my Mom's house in Pennsylvania.

While its not as exciting as other summer activities, we did visit the Wyoming County Fair..

She looks absolutely thrilled to be riding a "baby ride" with Connor, doesn't she?

And we celebrated someone's NINTH birthday! (Geez.. does time fly or what?)

Yes, Christina was correct in guessing goldfish as being the "new family members acquired at the fair"! Now we didn't win all four of these. Actually one ONE in this picture was won at the fair, and that would be Marina. Dylan also won one very similar to Marina, which he named "Rexxy". Unfortunately Rexxy lasted about 36 hours and was laid to rest in Grandma's toilet bowl. But because Dylan was upset about Rexxy, when we got back to Syracuse, we went goldfish shopping.. so that everyone would have a goldfish! Care to guess which one was named by who? I take credit for one of them since Connor could not come up with a name other than "PISH!"

Of course, acquiring all these fish, also meant buying a large aquarium, pump/filter, gravel, live water plants, a cute wee little house for them to hide in, food, and so on. I guess we're fish keepers now. Even more so since we added another two to the tank yesterday to help keep the tank a bit cleaner, they're called albino cori and we've named them "the Andy's" (if you've seen the movie Hot Fuzz, you'll get it.)

And because we're apparently on a fish roll here, Richard adopted a betta for a one gallon tank in his office. Hes stunningly beautiful, and he"s been named "Betta Test" :)

Now the sad news. Last night as I was about to turn out the light on the tank before bed, I noticed Marina, um, not living.

I guess we're making another trip to Petco.

So long Marina. We barely knew ya.

Around a year ago on this day..
