Friday Craft Club - Week 5

October 5th, 2007

Again this week, I have little to offer..

Admittedly, I've had some setbacks with this pattern. I bought it right away.. got started immediately.. only to have some errata released (so thats why I was having problems!) Ysolda is great about mailing out updated patterns to purchasers, so I promptly printed out the new version, ripped back and fixed. I was still having issues with the pattern, and before I even got a chance to email Ysolda, there was another update in my inbox. After frogging back to the ribbing again, I think we're finally moving in the right direction now.

The specs:

Gretel by Ysolda Teague, using Jaeger Shetland Aran (80% New Wool - 20% Alpaca), on Addi Turbo US7 16" circular.

Ysolda's patterns are remarkably beautiful and creative. I love Snow White.. if I only had the body type to pull off the look. This is definitely an up and coming designer worth keeping an eye on. Oh, and I love reading her blog. She always has beautifully creative pictures and self portraits.. she is definitely worth subscribing to if you aren't already.

oh that is a beautiful pattern! it would look awesome in my favorite color (purple). Good luck in continuing to the finish. I bet you will be so happy with the results.

Why don’t pattern authors get it right the first time? I’ve never understood that and it’s frustrating to have to go through the frogging.

The hat is gorgeous. You’re definitely persistent. After frogging once, I don’t think I would have been too pleased to frog a second time.
