Blog - pictures = boring

December 3rd, 2007

I realized shortly after posting earlier this evening, that it has indeed, been a while since I uploaded a picture. Again, this has been mostly to do with my inability to share publicly what I've been working on.

So in that, and also in wanting to document the first "real" snow storm of the season, I got out my camera. Seriously though, its snowing like crazy. And I'm incredibly worried about Richard, as he teaches the first class of the quarter tonight (Why don't schools close around here? The streets are HORRIBLE!) I went out shortly after getting the kids settled, to do a quick sweep of the driveway. Doing this, there wouldn't be so much to shovel later this evening when I'd need to get it all clear for Richard to come home. By the time I got to the end of the driveway, the beginning had an inch of newly fallen snow. And news10now has upped the accumulation prediction to 10+ inches in Syracuse. Oh Joy.

Looking out my side door, through the yard, and across the street to our neighbor's decorated house. Can't really see the snow falling though, can you?

How 'bout now?

Since moving to central NY, I've done nothing if not bitch endlessly about this lake effect crap. It never stops. But honestly I'm generally pretty tickled with the first snow. Its beautiful, and peaceful, and it makes me want to bundle up and go caroling. That is, if only Richard were safe at home.

I like the first snow, too. But it does get old quickly. But at least the kiddos love it and I get a break in my day when they can go play in the snow for a recess. Yay!

Great photos! I was out on the roads last night about 9 p.m. - not plowed well - and not fun. It was the 20-mile-an-hour-driving all the way home. But the memory of how to the drive in the stuff did kick in. First snow day of the year here - and for the kids, that is one MAGICAL day.

I trust Richard got home ok.

I love the pictures. I still have a love affair with snow but I live in the city so the snows are few and far between. I am quite sure the novelty would wear off quickly if I lived up near you;)

Great photos! Wow! I can’t wait for a snow day here! We did not get any last year! Thanks for letting me live vicariously through you!

Carla - love the pictures. It was so treacherous today and yesterday. Luckily, my favorite neighbor got a new snowblower this year and decided to make my day by taking care of my walk and drive this morning. I only had to shovel two times and 4 inches not the whole mess. Hope you are feeling better.
