Might As Well Face it

February 6th, 2006

Although I had seen the "short version" last night when I went to abc.com for something else, Vicki posted this morning about it. Sure enough, there is a LONG version! "Addicted To Lost" , just be sure to sit through the one or two short advertisements before the video.

And congrats Steelers! I wasn't cheering for you despite being a native Pennsylvanian. I was a fan when I was a kid though. My policy is that if it aint the Packers or the Iggles playing, I'll root for any other NFC team, because we all know, the AFC sucks ;)
The ONLY time I cheer on the AFC team is if the Dallas Cowboys are the NFC champions. Because another thing we all know, is that the Dallas Cowboys suck even worse than the AFC.

Too bad I’m a city girl

January 19th, 2006

Yikes, what a transition! See, I grew up a country girl, just 10 miles from our new place. But what a difference 10 miles makes! This is boondocks.
We cannot get cable television up here, and that was sort of expected. But we thought maybe we could get in some of the local channels with an antenna. Um..nope. So our only alternatives are a super duper big antenna, or a dish. I really don't want a dish (yeah I'm one of those people that prefers cable over the dish.) So last night, because we couldn't get anything but snow on the tv, I missed a new episode of LOST. My dad, my savior was going to try to record it for me. But we also don't have a vcr (only dvd) so once I do get my hands on that tape, I'll have to watch it either at mom's or dad's house.
The kids registration for school should be complete tomorrow and with any luck they can start back on Monday. But I'm also not happy about that. We're about 13 miles from their school, again not my first choice for schools. The kids are excited to go back to school though.
I've come down the stress high of the move, and encountered new stresses. Like the night I made my last post from my sister's house, we came home, jumped in bed, and woke up at 1AM with no heat. Apparently there was some air in the fuel line and the furnace wouldnt fire. We tried everything we could but had no luck getting it to kick on. We bundled everyone up for a cold night (below zero wind chills) with lots of blankets, then woke up at 6AM and made calls. The furnace guy was on the way when we found the reset button. It worked for all of that morning, then shut off again. Furnace guy came to the rescue, fixed "loose bolt" and it ran fine since then. UNTIL last night when it started again. OY! So, I'll be calling him again this morning.

Amdist all of this, I did manage to finish Dad's Irish Hiking scarf. It just needs to be blocked, and I'll be giving it to Dad this weekend. And my Jaywalkers....again, need to be ripped and restart. I got as far as halfway through the first foot, slipped it on my own foot, and alas, just way too small, with absolutely no stretch. I re-cast on last night on US2s and got as far as the cuff, and about 5 repeats. I'll work on that some more today. And I'll try to get a picture of it with our wonky camera to prove the Jaywalker status for the knitalong ;)

Some good news to end with, Richard got called back for a second interview at a college he initially interviewed with back in November. And the serendipitous job possibility that some of you know about, has come full circle and he has a meeting today with them. Think good thoughts y'all!

Update at 12:30PM: Richard called me from the cell. Serendipitous meeting went very well. We shall see!

Hey!

October 7th, 2005

Dear friends, family, and random blog surfers....
See I check my site stats daily. I can see who comes here, where they are located and what search words they use if they come here via say google or yahoo. A lot of you, I can tell by your location, who you are (picture me waving at GEF 2, the Univ. of Wisconsin, Madison in general, Shawano, the suburbs of Atlanta, Miami, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, southern North Carolina, Boston, Lansing and even Germany!)
But there are others who come here from cities where I don't know anyone, and come here several times a day sometimes, but never comment.
So how do I put this gently?  I've had a few incidents in the past few months where some real freaks have happened along my blog via some pretty sick search words. ( I'm just a TAD paranoid as Richard says)  So do me a favor folks... every once in a while, just comment, or drop me an email. Introduce yourself, say hi...just let me know your not a freak.
Really, sounds weird, but I'll definitely sleep better at night.

Its LOST day!

September 28th, 2005

Most of you that know me pretty well, also know I'm a LOST fanatic.
Funny how this show has turned into something I might not have normally picked up (science fiction-ish) But I'm completely hooked!

Anyway, I read a spoiler last week, where Damon Lindelof says that the book The Third Policeman by Flann O'Brien will play a big role in Season 2, Episode 3 (next week) So being the fan I am, I ordered it right away. I have to admit, the book is a boring read. Its reviews at amazon said it was quite funny and a quick read. I guess its my lack of science-fiction attraction that is making this a really dull investment of time. Or the fact that Flann O'Brien's native language is traditional Irish rather than good ol' English.
I'll keep reading as I can find time, but unless it picks up, or draws a really good conclusion to where this has anything to do with LOST, I'll have to give it a big zero.
