Bad Mood Friday

April 11th, 2008

I'm in a crappy mood today. Lack of sleep. Allergies. And to top it off, its raining.

I did want to share this little bit though, even though 90% of those who read my blog are knitters, and thusly are likely to have listened to Brenda Dayne's most recent podcast and know about Ingrid Michaelson. Honestly I was hooked in the first thirty seconds. Knit Hat? Binghamton? Must. Learn. More. And I'm happy that I love the rest of her music too.. even the Grey's Anatomy stuff.

But this song? It just makes me happy, despite its moderately sad theme. It makes me want to dance.. and smile. Even on a cold rainy day - So things are looking up!

It was shot in Ithaca just a few weeks ago. Its a bummer that I didn't learn of Ingrid until after she toured through here.

In any case.. Upstate Represent!

Happy New Year’s EVE (with music) Part 3 of “several”

Oh, such a good one. Once upon a time, the hottest ticket on New Years Eve..

Complete with crazy excited commentary from Ken Kesey and Father Guido Sarducci.

Happy New Weir one and all..

Twirl on!

Enjoy!

Happy New Year’s EVE (with music) Part 1 of “several”

December 31st, 2007

Continuing on with my youtube theme until after the New Year.. I tried to decide on one video. I couldn't leave it at just one however, as most of the performers/bands whom I love the most, are quite famous for their New Years shows.  I've picked a few, and they'll auto-post throughout the day instead of all at once.

First up, because they're sort of new to me in 2007.. My fave Frames song, New Years Eve, 2006 in Dublin..

Baby Its Cold Outside

I'm not a big fan of Bo, but Joan Osborne.. Thats a different story..

Posting from Jill's house today. But we'll be traveling back home shortly, to get ready for the Llamies arrival. We plan to bring in the new year with style.

Daisy had a great post yesterday about the feast of St Stephen.. a very interesting read. But it also included an oooooold vid of St Stephen from youtube. Old, but oh so good. I turned it up and twirled all the way to the coffee maker for a refill.

And if religious debate is your thing, there is a good one in the comments.

Benazir Bhutto was assassinated this morning. This is sad. And scary. I can't organize my thoughts on this.

I finished a sock last night. More on that later if the natural light improves.

The soft glow of electric sex

December 24th, 2007

That title will get me some interesting google hits, no? Gifted to us by Dennis and Nichole, it came home with us from Rhode Island, with the sole purpose that it be a Christmas decoration (I have no intention of keeping it out year round!) But really.. A Christmas Story on TBS at 8PM on Christmas Eve is what really kicks off our family's festivities. Its become such a huge part of our family's holiday. Even growing up, we owned this movie, on betamax. Each of us know the entire movie by heart.. every line.

Another family Christmas tradition that has continued on.. listening to Elvis Presley on Christmas morning. Not just any Elvis Presley.. it has to be a very specific Christmas album.

So its time to go get Santa's plate of cookies and eggnog ready. Then watch some Ralphie, drink some Bailey's, and stay up 'til the wee hours, being sure all children are fast asleep. All so I can wrap four kids worth of Santa deliveries.

Merry merry, one and all.
